This article examines W. E. B. Du Bois's transnational political thought during his work with the UN and NAACP in 1940s. Focusing on unpublished speeches, essays, correspondence, it explores how he exploited conceptual elasticity of terms like “colonial status” peoples” order to build a majority global scale. The capaciousness term “colony” its cognates allowed him connect disparate forms domination dependence across boundaries race, nation, empire, thus binding colonial semicolonial peoples together common program international action. fruition these efforts, I argue, was 1948 petition UN, An Appeal World .
